Hello, I'm Maggie Jean, a Queensland based painter and all-round creative-type.

Though I started art classes at the age of six I was, um, no child prodigy. But what I lacked in know-how I made up for in enthusiasm; a keen interest in art that's never wavered. 
​
I'm not a formally trained artist. For unknowable reasons I kept it at arms-length, studying or working instead in art-adjacent fields such as professional writing and building design. Careers that came to a sudden halt when, in 2023, my health tanked. And thank goodness.

Since then, I've formed a relationship with an amazing local gallery, sold out most of my studio and earned commissions interstate. Though still experimental, my style leans toward early-modernist movements with a wry, irony-filled, twenty-first century treatment.
